Most of Tanzanian's national parks offers an exceptional safari out of your local 4WD car and found you are walking some meter away from African wildlife and birdlife. The famous walking safari in Tanzania allows the visitor to have a natural touch of African rhythm. Basically the tour is done accompanied with the local Maasai warriors (in Ngorongoro Highlands) and park armed rangers to the national parks. The Arusha national park is famous for this kind of tour as you climb Mount Meru or just walking around the park without climbing. The trend goes up to the Ngorongoro highlands which connects you to Mountain Oldoinyo Lengai, and ends up to the Serengeti national park.
On the southern parks almost all supports the walking safari such as Selous, Mountain Udzungwa hiking, the Sanje waterfalls trekking to the Ruaha national park. The central western parks such as Gombe is typically walking safari to the chimpanzee where not game drive at all. The Mahale and Katavi national parks can all do both game drive and walking.
